Town Administrator - Town of Wellington, CO

Situated in beautiful Northern Colorado in the plains at the base of the Rocky Mountains, the Town of Wellington (pop. 11,500, elev. 5,201, 1.8 sq. mi.) is a safe, peaceful, family-oriented community poised for growth. Founded in 1902 and incorporated in 1905, the town is named for C.L. Wellington, an employee of the Colorado and Southern Railroad.

Known as “Colorado’s Northern Gateway,” Wellington is located between two state capitals: Denver, CO, and Cheyenne, WY, at the intersection of I-25 and CO SH 1 in the northeast corner of Larimer County. Oil, coal, and agriculture were the town’s foundations in the 1800s, and today Wellington is growing beyond its identity as a bedroom community (Fort Collins) and into a mature town in its own right.  Wellington’s FY 2020 Budget of $61.8 million ($23.1 million capital) supports just under 50 FTEs.

A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, or equivalent, and seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in local government, including five as a municipal manager, assistant, or major department head are required. Strong preference for experience as a municipal manager. Masters degree in related field desirable. Residency within the Town of Wellington is encouraged, but not required.  The annual salary range for this position is $145,000 to $185,000, depending upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.  Comprehensive benefits. Relocation assistance subject to negotiation.
