Public Works Director - City of Calabasas, CA

Situated approximately 25 miles west of downtown Los Angeles (8 miles east of the Ventura County line), the City of Calabasas (approximately 24,000 population) is located in western Los Angeles County in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and adjacent to the San Fernando Valley. Calabasas is primarily a residential community recognized as one of the most desirable communities in the region to live in.  Its distinctive character is in part derived from its natural environment, oak-studded hillsides, and sprawling open space.  Its notable characteristics include its physical diversity, small town atmosphere, and active population. 

The City of Calabasas is seeking a Public Works Director with excellent communications skills, a hands-on leader with the ability to strategically plan and organize a dynamic workplan for a multi-faceted department, and a trusted technical advisor and creative problem-solver to join their team.  A typical example of qualifying experiences and training is five years of progressively responsible Public Works maintenance, construction and contract experience, parks and landscape management, including or supplemented by two years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity.  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, public administration, business administration or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.  Registration as a Professional Engineer in California is desired.  The annual salary range is $190,162 to $237,487, and the City provides a competitive benefit package.
