Finance Director - City of La Cañada Flintridge, California

Incorporated 48 years ago with the merging of the community known as La Cañada and the community known as Flintridge, the City of La Cañada Flintridge (population approximately 19,700) is situated on the western end of the San Gabriel Mountains.  The City is home to the world-renown Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the 18-hole golf course La Cañada Flintridge Country Club, Descanso Gardens, and the historical museum Lanterman House.  As a haven for outdoor recreation, the City has approximately 24 miles of city and county multi-recreational trails for hikers, equestrians, bicyclists, dog walkers, runners and admirers of nature.  In combination with convenient accessibility by freeway  to the surrounding cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena as well as downtown Los Angeles, the City of La Cañada Flintridge provides an outstanding quality of life.

The City of La Cañada Flintridge is seeking, for a key role in the City’s leadership team, a technically proficient and knowledgeable Finance Director to lead, guide, engage, empower, and ensure the completion of day-to-day responsibilities of budget, accounting, payroll, and reporting functions.  The successful candidate will be a working Director who is hands-on, provides leadership and oversight, and is detail oriented to serve as a guiding, ethical, honest and transparent representative and role model of fiscal integrity.   If you are interested in working in an excellent organization with a terrific team, and you have experience in fiscal management, please consider applying. 

The Finance Director must have have 5 years of increasingly responsible financial accounting and management experience, preferably working in the public sector (municipality, special district, education) as a Finance Director, Assistant Finance Director, Financial Manager or similar senior level position, as well as graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting or related field. A Master’s Degree and / or professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Public Finance Officer from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) are desired. 

The annual salary range of the position is $139,380 to $186,780, and the City provides an excellent benefit package.
