Under the administrative direction of the City Manager, the Development Services Director will oversee the activities of the Development Services Department including planning, engineering, economic development, housing authority, Successor Agency, building inspection and zoning programs; coordinate assigned economic development and revitalization activities with other departments; and provide professional and technical staff assistance to the City Manager.
The City Manager seeks a highly effective innovative leader to oversee the Development Services Department with a commitment to high-touch customer service to serve and respond to residents and internal customers. The DevelopmentServices Director will oversee and manage the Development Services Department, and the ideal candidate will practice the management style of getting out and meeting and interacting with staff on a regular basis, being visible and approachable throughout the wide variety of work sites and within the City. The ideal candidate is proactive in inviting and establishing relationships with the industrial, commercial, and business sectors, local community groups and residents.
The ideal candidate will be a “hands-on” leader with the ability to lead projects and develop and implement a robust community engagement strategy for all segments of the community. The ideal candidate will be honest, loyal, innovative, solution-oriented, with superior interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate easily with a variety of audiences, both in and outside the organization. The City Manager seeks a leader who brings a “can-do” attitude to citywide problems while managing the diverse day-to-day activities of the department.
The annual salary range is $162,000 to $182,000. Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
