The County of Santa Barbara is seeking a collaborative and team oriented municipal professional and leader with integrity and an understanding of a broad range of municipal operations and processes. This exciting opportunity is particularly excellent for an experienced City Manager, Assistant City/County Manager in a mid-size or large public agency, Department Director over multiple functions, or a retired annuitant from a CalPERS member agency looking to extend their contributions and career in public service and local government management. Highly valued attributes for being successful in the position include knowledge, skills and experience in Planning (in California), matters related to people experiencing homelessness, as well as emergency operations. As such, the Assistant County Executive Officer for Municipal Services will provide strategic direction, oversight, guidance, coordination, and leadership of the following Departments: Agriculture/Weights & Measures, Community Services, General Services, Information Technology, Planning and Development, and Public Works. The typical background and experience include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a Master’s Degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field; and 7 years of increasingly responsible administrative or management experience in a full-service municipal environment. The County is prepared to offer a competitive salary in the range of $210,000 to $230,000. While this salary reflects the expected hiring range, the salary is negotiable depending on qualifications (the top of the salary range for position is $250,679), and the County provides an excellent benefit package.
