Human Resources Director - City of Manhattan Beach, California

Considered one of California’s finest beach communities, the City of Manhattan Beach is located 19 miles southwest of Los Angeles on the southerly end of Santa Monica Bay. Manhattan Beach is a full-service General Law city operating under a council-manager form of government that prides itself in offering the highest level of services to its approximately 35,000 residents and maintains a AAA bond rating. The city operates with nine cohesive and well-run departments, 306 full-time and approximately 180 part-time employees. The city has six labor groups.  Appointed by the City Manager and serving as an executive team member, the Human Resources Director will oversee a staff of ­­­­seven providing services in recruitment and selection, benefits administration, classification/compensation, employee and labor relations, training/safety training, leadership development, employment/labor legal compliance, risk management, wellness initiatives, and workers’ compensation.

The city is seeking a dynamic, collaborative director or senior manager with extensive experience in human resources.  A bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, or a related field is required, as well as eight years of professional managerial experience involving human resource management.  A Master’s degree and/or certification in HR management is desirable. The annual salary range is $156,648 to $204,156 DOQE, and the city provides an outstanding benefit package.
